Even though Co curricular Activities fall outside the realm of academics, yet they form an integral part of the curriculum. It has always nurtured and supported academics. Apart from developing the psychomotor domain, student centric activities always cater to the need of mental tranquility, socializing as well as pragmatic approach to academics. Fields like Art and Craft, Theatrics, Public Speaking and Music and Dance assist in the formation of character and attitude.
At DPS Aligarh, we settle for student initiated activities that encompasses everything possible under the sun. The range of activities offered include
Art and Craft- The vibrancy of the colours and the intricate and minute evolvement of creative initiatives seem to paint the wall of the Art Gallery. Students throng the very premises of the Art Gallery to relish upon the feast of colours and patterns. Inter House and Intra House activities are a common sight every Wednesday.
Music and Dance- Nothing soothes the wary soul more than music and nothing inspires the soul greater than music. The faculty entrusted with the sublimity of music and dance has always managed to inspire a few souls to produce Musicians and Dancers, lime lighted at every event. Apart from the School activities the students have also held the school flag high at different Inter DPS events as well as Inter School Events at both state and national level.
Theatrics and Public Speaking- Regular activities like Extempore, Speech, Debate, One act plays etc have added to the grandeur of multi Lingual character of the schools. The Language Dept remains at its toes to sharpen the oratory and acting skills of the students. These activities have also rendered in the development of presentation skill.

Chenab House erected a new mile stone in the realm of the inter house competitions having been held during the session 2019-20 as the house received the champion’s trophy. The school conducted numerous competitions throughout the session in which all the houses put their total potential energy to hold the first position and to bring laurels to their respective houses in different inter house competitions. Ganga House was bedecked with the runners up trophy in the said competitions. While Jhelum House and Ravi House stood on the third and fourth positions respectively. On both the fronts – sports and cultural activities, the spontaneous demonstration of killing instinct by Chenab House under the able stewardship of MR. Chetan Sharma as the house warden, the house recorded its name in the glorious history of DPS Aligarh. Mr. Nitin Garg, the warden of Ganga house also demonstrated his leadership qualities as Ganga house became the claimant of the runners up trophy as per their performance in different Inter house competitions held in the session.
Mrs. Aarti Nigam, the principal of the school congratulated the champion house for their dauntless spirit and tireless efforts they put in all the competitions and activities. Moreover, she encouraged all the houses for their efforts during the course of action.
A Mock Drill was held in DPS Aligarh tending to teach disaster prevention. A siren was blown as an emergency call which made the students and teachers run fast and vacant the classes within a very short span of time. The first group reached the ground within 25 seconds of time while the second group including more than 75% students and teachers reached the assembly ground in 1 min and 37 seconds which was very earlier to the standard time. While reaching the assembly ground all the students counted and checked their classmates.
Mr. S.P. Bhanti, the Director of Disaster Preventers addressed the gathering highlighting the precautionary actions to be taken to prevent the disasters. He also gave a demonstration of extinguishing fire by using fire extinguishers provided by the school. Mr. Bhanti also guided the gathering to take shelter in kitchen in case the house catches fire as it would be safer and better place for the survival. On this occasion all the teaching staff along with supporting staff listened the instructions very carefully and patiently. Mrs. Aarti Nigam, the principal appreciated the demonstration.
An Inter Class Kavita Path Competition was held in DPS Aligarh on 7th December 2019 for classes VII and VIII in which two students from each section participated. Some of the students presented the self composed kavita on the theme PRIKRITI. After the proper judgment done by the jury members it was declared that Krishna Vashishtha of VIII B secured the first position in the Kavita path while second and third position went to Bhoomika Singh of VII A and Priyanshi Agrawal of VIII A respectively.
On the other hand Priyanshi Gupta of VIII D held the first position in NAZM PRATIYOGITA while Ayesha Parvez of VII C and Ridima Varshney of VII D contented themselves with second and third position in the competition. Mrs. Aarti Nigam, the principal of the school congratulated the participants for their efforts.

An Intra Class Sketching Competition was organized in DPS Aligarh on 7th December 2019 for classes IX and XI in which two students from each section participated tending to sketch a funny caricature of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
The students made so identical caricatures of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam that even the team of judges was puzzled to select the best ones. After a proper scrutiny based on different traits Palak Singh of IX E and Shachi Agnihotri of IX e secured first and second positions respectively. On the other had in the group of class XI Gargi Gupta (XI C) held first position and Shubhi Rajput(XI C) stood on the second position in the competition. The principal Mrs. Aarti Nigam appreciated the creativity of the children.

An Intra Class Stand up Comedy Competition was held in DPS Aligarh on 7th December 2019 in the language lab in which the students from classes IX and XI participated and turned the language lab into a laughter club. Divya Singh of IX E secured the first position in her group Shubhi Soni (IX E) and Garvitraj Singh (IX B) securecd the second and the third positions respectively.
In the other group of class XI Comedian participants Nakul Chaudhary( XI C) stood first in the competition while Lakshya Garg ( XI C) and Sarvagya Jain of XI D stood on the second and third places respectively. Mrs. Aarti Nigam, the principal encouraged the participants with her boosting words of blessings.

An Inter class Soft Board Competition was held in which the students of all the four houses depicted the story in the form of pictures, paintings highlighting the historical, social and cultural background of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya the partnering state as allotted by CBSE. The paintings have been sketched keeping in mind to spread the message of Unity in diversity as expected by CBSE.
The participants from all houses put their full efforts to make their paintings and artistic work attractive enough to draw the attention of the jury. Jhelum house held the first position while Chenab House and Ravi House secured the second and third positions respectively.Ganga House contented with the fourth position. The Principal Ms. Aarti Nigam congratulated the participants for their efforts and also encouraged them to keep on tracking on the path of success.

The Rotary Club of Aligarh City organized a career counseling programme for the students of classes 10 and 12 to guide and counsel them in their way of stepping towards academic journey.The program was chaired by the distinguished president and other members of the Rotary Club, Aligarh in association with DharmSamaj Bal Mandir Senior Secondary School, Aligarh. The session of counseling was conducted by the invited speaker Mr. Arunendra Soni from Kanpur.
A galaxy of students participated from a number of schools of Aligarh city. From Delhi Public School, Aligarh (SW) a total of 10 students (a copy of the listed has been attached) participated in the workshop. The session was successful and our students benefitted with the deliberations of the motivational thoughts and guidance of the distinguished speaker.

In Delhi Public School Aligarh, Vigilance Awareness Week was observed from 28th October, 2019 to 2nd November 2019. During the course of Awareness Week, students of 9th and 11th participated with full enthusiasm and zeal.
They wrote an essay on the topic “integrity – A way of life”, at the same time, many of them wrote slogans and made posters on the same topic. Integrity pledge was also conducted by the vice-principal in which all the students, including all the teaching and non – teaching members of the D.P.S Aligarh fraternity were present. Above all, the message against corruption and the value of honesty and integrity was properly highlighted and emphasised during the Awareness week.

An Inter House Basketball Boys Open Competition was held on 2nd October 2019 in which the students of classes VII to XII participated representing their houses and Chenab House secured the first position in while Ganga and Jhelum Houses got the second and third position respectively.
An Inter House Basketball Girls Open Competition was held on 2nd Oct.2019 in which the students of classes VII to XII participated representing their houses and Chenab House secured the first position in while Ganga and Ravi Houses got the second and third position respectively. Mrs. Aarti Nigam, principal of the school congratulated the participants for their efforts having been put in the competition.


An Inter House Face Painting Competition was held in DPS Aligarh on 2nd October 2019 in which the students of classes IX and XI participated. All the participants came up with creative ideas and productive brains. Keeping in mind the harmful effects of the colours the students used only the colours which were not harmful for the skin. Moreover the students filled the faces with multiple designs and patterns showcasing their aesthetic skills.
Representing their house the Chenab House team secured the first position in the competition. The second and third position was bagged by Ganga and Jhelum Houses respectively. On the other hand the Ravi House was content with the fourth position.

An Inter House Rangoli making competition was conducted in DPS Aligarh on 2nd October in which the students from all the houses participated very enthusiastically. Each team consisted of four participants representing their houses. The topics were given as per the choice of the participants.
The Chenab House students held the first position holding their heads high. Ravi took the second step in the race of the competition. Jhelum House stood third in the competition while the fourth position was captured by the Ganga House in the competition. Mrs. Aarti Nigam congratulated the children for their tireless efforts.

An Inter House Taekwondo Competition was organized in DPS Aligarh on 3rd August 2019 in which the students participated in two categories (Boys & Girls).
Boys Category (Jr. & Sr.)
In the boys category (Junior) the students from classes VII to IX participated in which Ganga House got the first position. Chenab House stood second in the competition. Jhelum House secured the third position. In the boys category (senior) students from X to XII participated and they put their breath and being to secure the first position but Chenab House outshined all the Houses by holding the first position. The second position was secured by Jhelum and Ravi House as Joint position and Ganga house stepped on the third place in the competition.
Girls Category (Jr.& Sr.)
In the junior category of Girls the students of classes VII to IX participated with full enthusiasm and energy. The first position in the junior category was held by Jhelum House and the second position was bagged by Chenab House. Ganga House contented with the third position only. On the other hand the students from classes XC to XII participated in the senior category. Chenab House recorded the first position in this category while second position was secured by Ganga House. Third position again fell into the account of Ravi House.

An Intra Class Paper Bag Making Competition was held in DPS Aligarh on 27 April 2019, in which the students of Class VII A,B, C and D participated very enthusiastically. Aarya Jain of class VII C got the first position with her unparallel creativity. Sakshi Sharma bagged the second position representing class VII A. Ishika Singh and Dhratika Goyal of VII A stood third. On the other hand, the first position was bagged by AAnamika Sarswat from class VIII A and VIII D respectively. Priyanshi Agrawal and Harshita Verma of VIII A jointly held the second position whereas the third position was betowed to Ananya Yadav and Paridi Jain for their creativity and hard work.

An Intra Class Wall Hanging Competition was held in DPS Aligarh on 27 April 2019, in which the students of Class IX A, B ,C ,D,E and F participated very energetically. First position was secured by IX A and IX D jointly. Lucky Jain and Ramanshi Sighal of IX A and Anushka Verma alongwith Anjani Goyal of IX D bagged the first position with their high spirited efforts. While Lakshita Arora and Paridhi Varshney of IX D as well as Palak Singh and Nityashree Tomar of IX E got the second position in the competition. Akanksha Agrawal and Aakhya Agrawal represented IX F and held the third position.

An Intra class competition BEST OUT OF WASTE was organized for classes VII and VIII, keeping in mind the significance of recycling of the waste and discarded items. All the class teachers made different groups from their classes and the students really showcased their creativity. Class VII students made puppets using the waste material. Bhoomika Singh and her team from class VII A secured the first position in the competition with their appreciable creativity of mind. Lipi Gaur and the team representing class VII C held the second position while Vanni Gupta and the team contented with third position on behalf of VII B.
On the other hand class VIII students made the working models in the same competition in which Krishnang Agrawal and his team got the first place as their working model captured the attention of the jury members at first sight. The other two teams holding second and third position were from class VIII A.

An Intra Class Calligraphy competition was organized on 13 July 2109 in which the students of classes XI & IX participated. All the participants were asked for the calligraphic presentation of the poem ‘Father to Son’ so as to put their creativity and presentation in the competition. Astha Maheshwari of IX A got the first position. Somya Singh and Samki Jain of IX C got the second and third position. Rachita Burman of XI H secured first position while second and third position were secured by Vanya Tiwari of XI A and Shristi Dixit of XI H. Mrs Aarti Nigam, principal of the school congratulated the children for their devotion and dedication throughout the activity.

An Intra Class G.K Quiz competition was held in Language Lab of DPS Aligarh in Zero and first period on 3rd Aug. 2019 in which 16 teams from class VII and VIII participated. The teams were named as A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H. Each team had four members. The quiz consisted of five rounds in which team A held the first position and team C got second position while team G stood third in the competition. During the proceedings the general questions were asked in the oral rounds while in the visual round the participants were asked to recognize the faces of renowned authors, politicians and sportsmen. Mrs. Artee Khndelwal and Mr. Ashok Kumar Singh held the responsibility to manage all the rounds. Mrs. Aarti Nigam Principal of the school witnessed the quiz competition and appreciated the efforts put by the students.


An Intra class Mask Making competition was held ON 27th August 2019 for classes VII and VIII in which all the students of both the classes participated. The theme for the competition was as per the participants’ choice. All the students were instructed to prepare the masks individually. The devotion of the students and their enthusiastic participation was appreciated by Mrs. Aarti Nigam, principal of the school. The best three out the class were selected by the respective class teachers. Dhratika Goyal of VII C stood first in her group. Sachi Soni of VII A held the second position while 3rd position was secured by Riddhi Sharma who represented VII D. the consolation awards were given to Mahik Sharma (VII B) and Manya Arora (VII C).
In the other category Dhwani Varshney of VIII C secured 1st position. Harshita Verma of VIII A and Ananya Yadav of VIII A secured the 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The consolation award were given to Shrikant Pandit (VIII B) and Paridhi Jain (VIII B)

An Intra Class Soft Board Decoration Competition was held on 3rd August 2019 in DPS Aligarh, in which all the classes participated very enthusiastically. The theme for the board decoration was National Heritage (for Class VII to IX) and Technological Revolution (for class X to XII). All the classes put their breath and being to hold first position in the competition. All the classes showcased varied visual effects on the boards. A team of judges including Mr. Brijmohan, A.O. Mr. Chandrashekhar, vice principal and Mrs. Aarti Nigam Principal of the school visited all the classes individually to have a keen view and observation of the boards. And they finally gave their judgment sheet. Classes VII B, VIII A, IXC, X B, XI E and XII F got first positions representing the respective classes. The Principal of the school congratulated the winner classes and appreciated all the participants.

An Inter House Singing Competition under two categories – Patriotic song and Bhajan singing was held on 27 April 2019 in which all the houses participated with utmost energy and enthusiasm. In Bhajan singing, Chenab house sang the bhajan- “ esjk fny rq>is dqjcku eqjfy;k okys”…. while Jhelum house captivated the audience with the lines- “”;ke ukjk;.ke~ tkudh oYykHke~”. Ganga house got applause for the bhajan – “gs ohj js vk, gSa ge rsjs n~okjs”. On the other hand, Ravi house participants were appreciated for their mesmerizing words- “ftuoj njckj rqEgkjk.”

The second phase of the activity consisted of four patriotic songs presented by all the houses respectively. The patriotic songs included- “esjk eqYd esjk ns”k** ^^fny fn;k gS tk¡ Hkh nsaxs**… and “, oru esjs] vkckn jgs rw**.
Mr. Amit Upadhyay, Mrs. Deepa Khare and Mr. Michael Yadav glorified the occasion with their benign presence as the jury members. Mr. Sharad Agrawal, vice principal congratulated the particopants for their efforts.In Bhajan singing Jhelum house stood first, Ganga house held the second position. Ravi house and Chenab House got third and fourth positions respectively.
On the other front of the activity in Patriotic song Jhelum house got first position while Ravi house stood second. Chenab and Ganga house participants contented themselves with third and fourth position respectively.

An Inter House Volleyball Competition was held from 13th July to 18th July 2019, in which Ganga House held first position as the team played with full vigor and energy. The other houses also put their breath and being to pave the way of success hence Ravi House and Jhelum House got the second and third positions respectively. Chenab house secured the fourth position despite all the efforts. During the proceedings of the competition, all the participants of the pertaining houses were guided and encouraged by the coaches to do their level best. Mrs. Aarti Nigam, principal congratulated the children for their tireless efforts in the competition.
A Carrier counseling session has been organized in DPS SW Aligarh on 16 May 2019. Our resource person was Mr.Rajesh Mishra, he is a very brilliant scholar renowned spokesperson in Delhi ncr. We are very thankful to him who gave us time from their busy schedule and enlightened us.
